This is a great value for the money. I looked around at several similar smaller and larger gun safes both on Amazon and other locations and could not find a deal that could even touch this one. As an Amazon Prime member, I received FREE SHIPPING on this, which easily makes this 12 gun safe cheaper than most other 3-4 gun safes! The shipping savings alone more than paid for my Amazon Prime membership.
A slight con, the safe did get slightly dented in shipping, right where the plastic support straps were on the outside of the box, but it's not that big of a deal, since this is going in a closet, not out on display. This is fairly heavy steel and the dent was very, very minor. It otherwise looks good.
Also, the picture is slightly misleading, but in a good way. Mine arrived with a set of shelves already assembled and mounted on the back wall. They are adjustable and are good for holding boxes of shells or some other accessories. The door in the picture shows two hang-on plastic shelves, but mine arrived with three. I do not believe any of these shelves should get in the way of even the tallest firearms.
There are holes in the back wall and the "roof" of the safe, which are for mounting this against a wall and (I believe) for adding on an additional stackable safe. They're small, but keep in mind that if you don't use them this is an air passage way which means this is not a fire-proof gun safe. Best I can tell fire-proof safes start around $1000, which is not any where near the price of this one. That also means it's not waterproof or humidity controlled-- just keep that in mind. I'm sure it would survive a minor fire, but don't expect to pull the contents out unharmed if your house is reduced to ashes.
There's adhesive-backed foam for the floor and all four interior walls. You get to mount it where you want, right after you mount the barrel holders at whichever height you prefer. It's very configurable. They sized the foam so well that I haven't "committed" to where I'm putting the foam just yet by pulling off the adhesive backing; it will "stick" (stay) between the lips and seams of the walls without applying the adhesive.
As for the weight, I agree this is light enough to pick up and walk away, but it's excellent for keeping out young, curious hands. Add a couple full ammo dry-boxes to the inside floor and you'll double the weight (90 lbs). Bolt it to the wall and you're even better off. Even without bolting it, I don't think this will tip (your mileage may vary). This is not for trying to keep a dedicated thief out, but it will certainly keep out the casual ones.
I don't have 12 firearms, but I do believe you could fit that many, though it would be tight. A half dozen or so long guns and a few thousand rounds should have no problem.
Another point to consider: if you are storing firearms for personal defense in this safe, keep in mind this has two key lock mechanisms to unlock before the door opens, whereas some more expensive safes have only a single key/combination/keypad mechanism. Two key locks may mean fumbling in the dark twice as long before getting access to the contents, which could mean life or death in a "home intrusion" scenario. On the other hand, that means it will take a thief twice as long to "drill out" the locks. It's not a deal-breaker for me, but something to consider. The keys that come with it (mine had four copies) have rubber grips on them, which make it easier to find the right key in the dark.
Overall, this is a great value.
The gun cabinet arrived in great condition, and was very easy to set up. It locks up solidly, and is easy to customize for whatever setup you might like. It is easily tall enough inside to fit 5ft long guns. The finish is a durable ceramic type baked on coating. The only negative about the cabinet is the lack of weight, which can be easily fixed by putting a couple cases of ammo in the base.
